Marischal College la16- 
One of the two colleges (once independent universities) of Aberdeen University. Founded by the fifth Earl Marischal of Scotland in 1593.

We desire to found at Aberdeen (called New to distinguish it from Old Aberdeen) a public Gymnasium in the building formerly belonging to the Franciscans where young men may be thoroughly trained and instructed, both in the other humane arts and also in Philosophy and a purer piety.

Mace. Large silver ceremonial mace, about a metre long, with a crown and cross at the top.

Communion cup. A slender silver cup with a tall stem. It is highly decorated with engraved scrolls, foliage and coats of arms.

Silver cup made by Walter Melville of Aberdeen and given to Marischal College by George Gordon of Strathnaver in 1653.

Painting. Oil painting of a large, tall building with a round tower being demolished. The roof has been removed, there are piles of rubble and labourers are handling pieces of stone. The painting is in a gilded frame.

Silver knife and fork. The fork has three tines and its handle ends in a leaf shape, the knife has a mark on the blade consisting of a crown and the letter P, and is inscribed Marischal College Abdn. on the handle.
