Description

White china plate with designs in crimson. Commemorates the quatercentenary of the University in 1895 and the visit of King Edward VII on September 27th 1906 to open an extension of the university buildings at Marischal College. Decoration: four roundels containing portraits of the 6th Earl Marischal (top left), the founder of Marischal College; Bishop Elphinstone (top right), the founder of King's College; Alexander Lyon, the Lord Provost of Aberdeen (bottom right), and The Very Reverend John Marshall Long, the Principal of the University (bottom left). The Arms of the two colleges are in roundels and in the centre, the newly-built frontage and tower of Marischal College, designed by Alexander Marshall Mackenzie.celebrating quatercentenary of the University Shape: round & flat Decoration: Arms of University etc
