Walter Scott Research Centre
The University of Aberdeen has long-standing connections with the work of Walter Scott and has been home to the Walter Scott Research Centre for nearly thirty years. The centre, in collaboration with Abbotsford, runs the open online course Walter Scott: The Man Behind the Monument.
The Centre has produced the Edinburgh Edition of the Waverley Novels and the Edinburgh Edition of Walter Scott’s Poetry, scholarly editions of Scott’s novels and poems. These works contain many of the songs and musical items explored in this exhibition.
Aberdeen’s Special Collections Centre also houses the Bernard C. Lloyd Collection, one of the biggest collections of Walter Scott material anywhere in the world. Some of the items from this collection are showcased in the exhibition, too.
