Migration Experiences
Although most cohort members remained in the Aberdeen area, some moved away – to join the forces, to settle in other parts of the UK or to other countries. Going to University away from Aberdeen also triggered a move.
With migration comes advantages and disadvantages. Moving away might mean loss of family support network, and children not seeing their grandparents. On the other hand, new lives were forged, new work and social support networks made – making you more resilient. Fond memories of Aberdeen remain, and a feeling of missing Scotland, with some returning for holidays. Read about the migration experiences of some of our cohort members in their essays.
