Introduction

ta kheru divider

Around 2700 years ago a woman named Ta-Kheru died in Thebes, Egypt. Her family spent lavishly on her funeral, hoping that her name would be remembered.

Today, researchers have used modern medical imaging techniques to scan the mummified body of Ta-Kheru, and to learn about her life and death.

This exhibition shows images of Ta-Kheru’s mummified body in its original wrappings, and CT scans of the interior of her body.
