Description

Shelves set in each other & bowed twig at the head end. A long narrow hole as a handle-hold on both of the long sides, these sides decorated with a pattern of regular lines and stylised flowers. This is one of four cradles collected from Albania by Hasluck, to demonstrate the type of cradle used for a new-born baby. 'To deceive evil spirits' the baby would be placed 'in the poorest type of cradle' (see Museum's 'Slip Catalogue').
