Fir Gully Knife

Fir gully or knife, with an iron blade and wooden handle. From Cults, Aberdeenshire. The knife was used to cut 'fir candles', splinters of wood from pine trees. This knife has been hafted into a home-made handle and is held in place with a thin metal ring.
