Description
Regimental dirk of Queen Charlott's Own Highlanders. Fluted blade in steel, handle in wood carved with interlace design, mounted in gilded brass and inscribed. Sheath in leather with mountings in gilded brass, to hold a byknife and fork (fork missing). Museum's 'Slip Catalogue': 'Dirk and sword belonged to Michael Dunbar, notorious cateran (robber) who lived in the Parish of Kildrummy, Aberdeenshire, in the seventeenth century, died December 9th, 1722 at the age of 100 years, and was buried in the Old Kirkyard Kildrummy, Aberdeenshire.'
