Pulleys. Large wooden frame, about half a metre square, suspended from which are six brass pulleys and weight systems, ranging in complexity from a single pulley with a weight to six pulleys with a single weight.

Pull up lamp. Small dark grey metal lamp. It has a circular base with a handle, and a rod projecting up from the centre. Around the rod is coiled a wick coated in a waxy red substance. The wick has been pulled through a candle holder like structure which is on top of the rod.
19th century lamp, in brass, with a carrying handle and a hinged pan holder. Instead of burning a normal candle it burns a long, red beeswax taper coiled round a central column and held by a clip.
Puirman. An iron stand almost a metre tall with a tripod base and a circular rack on top. Hanging from the rack is a crusie lamp, composed of two leaf shaped dishes fastened one above the other. Clipped above the rack is a candle made of a strip of fir wood.
Puirman, free-standing with a tripod base, and a circular top on which to stand the crusie or lamp. There is also a clip to hold a fir candle, a type of wooden taper. The puirman and crusie come from Aberdeenshire.
