Lantern. Cylindrical tin lantern, about a foot tall, with a conical roof, and windows made of glass. The surfaces are decorated with punched lines and dots.

Leister Crusie Brazier
An iron brazier, or leister crusie, from Strathdon, Aberdeenshire. Used for poaching fish by night. Peats burning in the crusie give out light, which attracts fish. The fish are then caught with a leister, a five-pronged fish spear.
Leister Fish Spear
Five-pronged iron fish spear, known as a leister. The barbed tines prevent the fish from slipping off the spear. It comes from Strathdon, Aberdeenshire.
Letter
Letter with the seal of Marischal College sent by the College to the King of the Two Sicilies.
Letter box. Rectangular box made of silver, with a border of dense punched lines on the lid.
Shape: rectangular. Lid decoration: punched border. Reputedly 'John Brown's letter box, used for Queen Victoria's mail at Balmoral.'
Letter scales. A small steel bar with a weight on one end, a projection for balancing the bar near the middle, and a pair of tongs hanging from the other end.

Linen weight. A block of pink and white speckled granite about the size and shape of a loaf of bread, with iron handles projecting from the short ends.
