Description
Human skulls carved in stone, with tenons at the back for fitting into a wall Aztec or Tlascalan style, Mexico, A.D.1450-1520. Described by Dr McPherson as from the southern state of Oaxaca, the skulls are more likely to be from the Atlantic coast state of Vera Cruz and may have formed part of a frieze on the walls of a temple or a ceremonial ball-court.
