Abstract
Axle loops reputedly from the chariot of Calgacus who led the northern Celts in an ill-fated stand against the Romans in 83AD. Found at the Roman temporary camp at Raedykes, Kincardine. This identification, made in the 19th century is unlikely to be true, but it shows the continuing fascination with the story of the Celtic resistance against the might of the Roman Empire.
