Abstract
Harpoon head Made of slate. The holes would have fixed it to a wooden shaft. Sadoo. Hospital Patient. Ahmedabad, India, 25.9.86. On pilgrimage: admitted into hospital extremely emaciated and in dying condition: right arm rigid & fixed as seen in picture: right hand grasping a bit of glass sphere (exhibited in small box accompanying) which had been so held for eight years: fingers flexed stiff & obliquely over glass convexity: nails like bird's claws: the object had to be retained for four years longer in order to secure easy entrance into, and an exalted place in the paradise of Yama (a king of the Hindu spiritworld). Death relaxed the grasp and the cherished treasure dipped away from the fingers which had closed over it with the grip of a vice. 257. Foot of Chinese female, left, distorted. Two casts of, in plaster of Paris. L. 133. Presented by Professor R. W. Reid, University of Aberdeen, 1907. See also ABDUA 60927. These three items seem to have been listed together in Reid's 1912 Catalogue, as Item 257 on page 235 - a Chinese woman's foot, and two plaster casts of the same.
