Grave goods. Inuit. Found with ABDUA: 6078 - 6117. 'belonged to chief of Button Islands'. Components:flat iron point, rivetted to bone or ivory foreshaft. Towards the other end of the foreshaft there are 2 large perforations and a separate ivory socket point is attached with sinew lashed through 2 pairs of perforations. Inscription: Paper sticker: M9 1

Abstract

Grave goods This harpoon, knife and runner from a sledge were personal possessions which had been placed with the body in a Boethuk grave. The Boethuk were a native people who lived in what is now Labrador, the last of whom were killed c 1830 after 200 years of conflict with European settlers.
