The knobs have a finely cut grid pattern and each square is rounded to produce tiny squarish knobs. The spaces between the large knobs are cut with lines that flow around the knobs.

Description

Type: 9c, 4 knobs, made of serpentine. Four large, dome-shaped knobs and is finely decorated all over. Each knob is cross-hatched, carefully incised to make tiny cubes between the incised lines. The spaces between the knobs are decorated with fine grooves. Although there is no record of a provenance of this ball in the museum's slip catalogue, it is thought to come from Towie, Aberdeenshire (Jim Inglis).
