    <dcterms:title><![CDATA[Touting horn. A large horn with a dull red, white and blue cord. The horn is inscribed with numerous names, initials and dates in different styles. Most prominent is the inscription CoLeNsT INDeL 1752, IA MeS BOWMAN 1752, inscribed with rope like writing. Other inscriptions include AD and W.V DF 1750. ]]></dcterms:title>
    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[A large hunting or &#039;touting&#039; horn made from an ox horn, with a mouthpiece carved at the point. Eighteenth-century, decorated with incised names, initials and dates, inluding 1707 and 1752. Some of the lettering is in a cross-hatched, rope-like design.<br />

    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Hunting or &#039;touting&#039; horn, made from an ox horn and inscribed with a design of interlace and entwined concentric circles.   Dates from later 17th century.  When this object was donated the donor said it once was in the collection of George Davidson.  The horn was purchased from Milne&#039;s Saleroom.]]></dcterms:description>

    <dcterms:title><![CDATA[Man trap. An iron trap with sharp teeth on hinged brackets which are snapped shut by a leaf spring. The leaf spring has part of a chain at one end.]]></dcterms:title>
    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Man trap, in iron, nineteenth century, type: gin trap.   Would have been set, hidden in undergrowth, to deter and catch poachers.  The jaws are set open by the shank of metal, and when the trap is sprung, by stepping on it, the toothed jaws snap shut, and are capable of breaking a man&#039;s leg.]]></dcterms:description>

The museum&#039;s Slip Catalogue notes: &#039;Dirk and sword belonged to Michael Dunbar, notorious cateran (robber) who lived in the Parish of Kildrummy, Aberdeenshire, in the seventeenth century, died December 9th, 1722 at the age of 100 years, and was buried in the Old Kirkyard Kildrummy, Aberdeenshire.&#039;]]></dcterms:description>

    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Single valve &#039;otter trap&#039; type, made from an alder trunk with trap of birch and the spring of willow.  Found in a bog at Auquharney Moss, Cruden, Aberdeenshire.  A radio-carbon date of the 6th century AD has been obtained for the trap (OxA-6052: 1440+/-45 bp - 540-660 Cal Ad (at 2 sigma)).]]></dcterms:description>
