Description An account of the resource Excavated from an eroding bank behind steading at NJ943547. The pin heads were among a cremated deposit of human bone. Shape: barrel-shaped (only 3 on display May 1992). A similar pin head was found accompanying the cremation deposit at Seggiecrook, Kennethmont (see ABDUA 19730). One of the Howford pin heads is possibly decorated with herringbone design. All are smaller in size than the Seggiecrook pin heads, and all the Howford examples are perforated on their long axis. The site is that which produced another urn in 1970 & 1985. A collared urn was found by Leslie Mutch, the 9 year old son of Mr and Mrs Mutch who farmed the Mains of Carnousie.
