Ralston & Inglis (1984): 'The 'Castle Hill' was destroyed during the construction of the railway in mid-Victorian times. It is conceivable that the 'Hill' was originally a pre-historic cairn. More pertinently, two sculptured stones, now in the National Museum of Antiquities in Edinburgh were removed from a burnt layer which contained some bone material. These are decorated with a number of symbols in Class I style. It is thus possible that the mound continued to be used for ritual or burial during the Pictish period.']]></dcterms:description>
