    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Cane walking stick with silver top. The top is inscribed to &#039;Geo. Turreff&#039; and stamped with maker&#039;s initials (William Jamieson - died 1841). Museum&#039;s &#039;Slip Catalogue&#039;: &#039;George Turreff was appointed by the Aberdeen Town Council Dean of Guild&#039;s officer, 9th October 1793, and Collector of seat rents in town&#039;s Churches, Aberdeen, 12th October, 1796&#039;.<br />

In the hollow are pieces of wood, most prominently a curved pole with a hinge in the centre which runs the length of the hollow and is fastened down at either end by wooden pegs perpendicular to it.]]></dcterms:title>
    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Single valve &#039;otter trap&#039; type, made from an alder trunk with trap of birch and the spring of willow.  Found in a bog at Auquharney Moss, Cruden, Aberdeenshire.  A radio-carbon date of the 6th century AD has been obtained for the trap (OxA-6052: 1440+/-45 bp - 540-660 Cal Ad (at 2 sigma)).]]></dcterms:description>
