The Committee wished to abolish the Law of Hypothec - the right of claim of a landlord over his tenant's belongings. They also wished to modify the Game Laws which prevented tenant farmers from protecting their crops against rabbits, pheasants and other creatures. They also wanted to see the Law of Entail abolished. This law was designed to preserve large estates as a whole so that they could not be sold or otherwise disposed of other than to those within the owning family.
The Address also discusses the adoption of Mr William McCombie of Tillyfour, noted farmer and cattle breeder, as the Liberal candidate for West Aberdeenshire.</dcterms:description>
