In this month, a series of open-air meetings were held in Kincardineshire and Aberdeen, from Auchenblae to Aberdeen Fish Market. They were addressed by Miss Mary Gawthorpe, a formidable speaker, and Miss Helen Fraser. The theme of these meetings was that women should not waste time in asking politely for the vote, but should instead demand it as a right. [show more]

Description:The case for votes for women is put by a woman. She points out that women want the vote for the same reasons as men did. It is ridiculous that a female landowner cannot vote whilst her male servant can. Women pay rates and income tax but do not have equal status with men. Leatham disagrees with each of the given arguments. In particular, he believes that women should not govern men. In this, he displays a typically socialist viewpoint.
