Description

History painting. Ganymede naked facing left, with neck-length curled blond hair, and holding a silver cup in left hand. Seated on cloud, jug at foot, and on a red drapery. Zeus in the form of an Eagle curls round from right shoulder to face Ganymede. Irvine exhibited Ganymede RA exhibition ( 1787).
