2 brass plates with cogs in between. They are all connected and move together but one end moves more freely that the other. On the looser end, there is a metal device that moves a hand outside the plates. On the stiff end there is a cord connected and a cylinder roller for the winding cord. There are a few cogs on the outside of one of the plates. Hour and minute drive on outside and inside respectively.
