Description

Sword with fluted blade in steel. Hilt in wood, studded and mounted in brass, brass pommel and guard decorated with hunting scenes. The museum's Slip Catalogue notes: 'Dirk and sword belonged to Michael Dunbar, notorious cateran (robber) who lived in the Parish of Kildrummy, Aberdeenshire, in the seventeenth century, died December 9th, 1722 at the age of 100 years, and was buried in the Old Kirkyard Kildrummy, Aberdeenshire.'
