Set of scales, with brass pans and brass weights, in a wooden box. Used by Rev Alexander John Forsyth for weighing the ingredients used to make a detonating powder in 1805-6. Forsyth invented the percussion lock for fire arms, and his experiments involved him in producing detonating powder.
