Description

Iron sway (on display with links, two cruiks and brander), nineteenth century, from a hearth at Darnabo, Fyvie, Aberdeenshire. The sway is a long iron bracket which holds the hook, or cruik, from which the pot, or meat to be smoked, can be suspended. The links hold the brander, or barred girdle, nearer to the fire and its height can be adjusted.
