Description
Gold pocket watch with an opening back and face cover, wound by key (key hole on the back), made by Messrs George Jamieson & Son, Aberdeen. The watch is inscribed inside the case in uppercase, copperplate and gothic lettering: 'Presented TO Alexander Riach/by Easton Gibb Contractors/IN TOKEN OF HIS FAITHFUL/Service as Manager/for the last 10 years/Novr. 1873'. A letter accompanied the watch: 'Dear Riach, Issued you a gold watch as a token of my appreciation of the zeal, energy, ability and fidelity with which you have conducted my work for the last ten years. Yours very truly, Easton Gibb'.
