Now I want you to understand the area we're talking about. We're talking about the Southeastern tribes of the United States. This is where we were when we had first European contact and until the removal, which is sometimes referred to as the Trail of Tears. But if you’ll notice the map, this is a map of North America and a little bit of Central America. And if you notice the shaded area over there on the right-hand side of the map, that is where the Southeastern tribes were. Those tribes consisted of the Cherokee, Creek, Choctaw, Chickasaw, and Seminole, and then several other smaller tribes that kind of just got folded in with us. So our histories then began to merge. But this is what we're talking about, and the beadwork from the Southeastern tribes is all very similar to all the other Southeastern tribes. But distinctly different from the bead work anywhere else in North America. So when I tell you something about a basic tradition of Cherokee as Southeastern beadwork that included all of those tribes.
