mounted on three brass adjustable feet, a sub rectangular black wooden base holds two upright hinged wood plates. The plates each have terminals connecting to flat coils. On one side is a viewing window into the centre of the plates. A hollow rod protrudes from the top, into this is inserted a brass rod to the centre of the plates and window. A metal bar possibly a magnet pivots on the vertical rod.
